@osprey is working on really interesting protocol that allows offchain data to be timestamped onchain supppper cost effectively, but the downsides would be no onchain permissions like w/ Semaphore.
But you could probably cheapen the RiscZero ZK compute to verifiable identity memberships by orders of magnitude with it.
