Evaluating dog food options is NOT easy. Increasingly convinced the whole industry is a scam. Lots of kibble is majority fillers(corn), pretty sad given this is all most dogs eat. Non-kibble options are not economical. WSAVA has a list of approved brands but super unclear what the criteria is for making that list. It’s all major brands (eg Purina) who have $$$. Pet food brands also have partnerships with vets so vets are incentivized to recommend certain brands. They’re also incentivized to recommend special diets any time the dog has some GI issue. Personally have been on a vet recommended low fat diet for some time and TBH didn’t mind but it was $$$$$$$$.
