The 2025 commodity divergence was mainly driven by technological revolution (AI/ boom + electrification), not geopolitics. Copper surged on data-center and EV demand, gold rose on uncertainty, while oil fell due to oversupply and weakening demand from energy transition. Resource-exporting nations should urgently diversify away from oil/gas, invest in future metals (copper, lithium), and build power infrastructure to capture the AI-energy wave.
