the most challenging thing is how much what you do on a daily basis is chunked in a way that you don't realize: your favorite coffee shop, breakfast place, wifi issues, SIM card, internet, work, timezones, where you live etc these are generally things that are pre-figured out for you every single day, so you don't think about it. i've gotten close to a point where at least in Shenzhen / Hong Kong and Tokyo I have a flow / routine now. I already had a routine before in San Francisco. that being said - i woke up in a city the other day at around 5am, and i was like huh where am i and what language do i need to code switch into today. genuinely had no idea
