i speak english, japanese, some dutch since an early age, i took german and spanish in middle school, i took french in high school, i learned mandarin mostly on my own, levantine arabic, italian because its close enough to spanish and french because latin and now cantonese i don't really have a strategy except: - speak it as much as possible - listen to it as much as possible - be in the country or place where they only speak that language as much as possible - essentially become the version of yourself that the place itself unlocks in you. for example, italian july is a lot more expressive than mandarin july
