The natural evolution of gamification is enshittification in the similar to the way that the natural consequence of industrialization was pollution. If you open up your intention to fully excavate value out of the value chain without understanding the full value chain of the system that you’re a part of it, the natural evolution is total and utter extraction until the system itself collapses Cancer cells are another good example of this

I still keep coming back to this idea that long lasting systems have an element of inscrutability- that is there to make the system natural non convex so that you can’t fully optimize it - and forces people to create models that try to optimize it but never fully do
