1/ 96c/192t threadripper with lots of ram? but a build like that will handle more than 196gb ram. Im all for spending 10k+ on a cpu but im not sure if its actually worth it lol. I can only imagine how unstable that thing would be. 2/ any machine will do for this purpose. if you want lots of nvme SSD's, you will want a server-grade cpu with the pcie lanes. But if you plan to use sata drives, you just want to find a mobo with lots of sata ports. I would recommend a less power hungry cpu as you don't really need juice here, just stability. I personally don't think there is any right or wrong way to approach a homelab. I personally prefer building everything and using what I have. Some like buying used dedicated server hardware. All I will say, is that high end parts have been the least reliable for me compared to mid-grade. May not be as problematic with server grade hardware, but definitely be careful with like 5090's or intel i9's/ ryzen 9's.

haha I been planning to turn one of my machines into a NAS, just so I can remotely access all my work from any machine (desktop, my 4 laptops, lol). This would of been really handy when the cpu on my main machine degraded and needed RMA.

At the end of the day, they just want to collect their taxes. They have no feasible way to track all on-chain data and effectively link it to users. I feel like stablecoin regs might be this in disguise. Regardless, I hate KYC as much as anybody. But in many jurisdictions, they solve their issue by heavily regulating CEXs and any business facilitating crypto trades. In Canada for example, good luck getting ur crypto into cash without any KYC. You can either try your luck and do it via illegal vendor for cash (at the high risk of getting robbed) or you can use the safe options with the caveat you will be reported to the tax authorities. So they don't really care anymore what you do on-chain, because they have a tight grip on the off-boarding.

lol stablecoins won't grow. I think the only growth potential the regulations bring is more institutional activity on their parent platforms.

Non-KYC stables will definitely be a thing... but I feel like they will never be officially recognized (potentially made illegal/sanctioned) That said, whatever definition is established, that boundary will be pushed. I think grey-area algorithmic stables may have a chance.

Random thought: Stablecoin regulations will require all addresses holding regulated stablecoins to basically KYC or face blacklisting... This will cause a tsunami of movement into BTC/ETH/SOL etc.
