Robinhood is building an Ethereum Layer 2 network based on Arbitrum Robinhood is developing its own Layer 2 network on top of Ethereum using Arbitrum’s infrastructure to support its tokenized securities platform. Johann Kerbrat, Head of Crypto at Robinhood, said that this approach allows the company to leverage Ethereum’s security and liquidity while focusing on product development. The Layer 2 network is currently in a closed testing phase with no announced date for public release, but Robinhood’s tokenized stocks are already operating on Arbitrum One. Since their launch in June 2025, the number of tokenized equities has grown from around 200 assets to more than 2,000 by January 2026. Robinhood plans to seamlessly migrate all assets and liquidity to its new network once it goes live. Kerbrat also sees expanding tokenization beyond publicly traded stocks — including private equity, real estate, and art — as part of a broader strategy to bring real-world assets onto the blockchain.
