Is there a privacy tech community here? I’m trying to get myself to post more on Farcaster because ideologically I’m aligned with the principle of decentralized social but: 1) I have no followers here 2) it feels like most cypherpunks are ironically on X and not here (am I wrong?)

Went on threadguy’s stream this week and answered the question everyone is wondering: “why Zcash now?” notthreadguy: "It feels like the privacy scene has felt like a ghost town until right now. Why is everyone freaking out about Zcash right now?" Me: "Let me ask you this—do you think that when you look at geopolitical trends and events, do you think we are moving towards a world that is more free or more authoritarian?”

Here's something you probably won't see many people talking about on Farcaster (yet): Zcash's ($ZEC) price has outperformed most bluechip tokens on the market—up 217% YTD—and the amount of shielded volume moving into the Orchard Pool looks like a hockey stick. Simply put, the market is waking up to the reality that for money to serve as a medium of exchange it needs to be FUNGIBLE, which most crypto tokens are not. Also, it has a hard-capped supply at 21M tokens. The issuance gets cut in half every 4 years. In other words, there is less of it getting emitted, not more. There is no little committee of 3 people in a Telegram group that can surprise change the monetary policy at their discretion through "governance." There are no cliffs or unlocks. It just is what it is. It has the potential to serve as both a medium of exchange, and a store of value. Crypto as it was intended. Credit to ZecHub for the dashboard below.
