i also had my paper copy of howl, and kaddish which i read more often, also his essays are fantastic

my great aunt wrote me a letter when she sent this and some other photos, and said he was looking for his notes

I always imagined him skinnier for some reason.

Howl was so eye-opening to me to discover. That Writing could be. like. this. It was kind of before the internet, and I had to get my hands on a paper copy somehow. Maybe my mom had it. She was not a hippy, but she had a Masters in English Literature.

Howl starts out like a PUNCH IN THE MOUTH and then goes on like that for ABOUT ELEVENTY HUNDRED THOUSAND more liines.

Again, way before the internet, and all the copycats (rightfully so!) that came after.

he was an english professor and allen visited their home to speak at the university 

i've met my great aunt a handful of times, she knew i was into *the beats* so she wanted me to have the original photos
