The Lantern of the Forgotten
In a village where the stars had vanished from the sky, the people lived by the dull light of machines, their eyes always downcast, their hearts hollow. They spoke often of the past but had long stopped believing in anything ahead.
One night, a woman arrived, carrying a lantern that glowed not with fire, but with memory. She said nothing, only placed the lantern in the village square and sat beside it. People gathered, curious. When a child asked what it was, the lantern flickered and in its glow, the villagers saw visions: not of what was, but of what could be. A garden blooming on the barren hillside. A song they hadn't sung in years. A stranger becoming family.
