A Masterpiece of Astrophotography
This picture is a masterpiece of astrophotography.
The photograph was captured by astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy and skydiver Gabriel C. Brown.
The location was the Arizona desert. McCarthy set up his special solar telescope facing the Sun. Brown was 8,000 feet away from the telescope. He was inside an aircraft, 3,000 feet above the ground, waiting to jump.
However, aligning his shadow with the Sun's disk was extremely difficult. Therefore, it was crucial to get the aircraft into the desired line. Not once, not twice, but after the aircraft circled around six times, McCarthy gave the signal to jump. The result is the frame below. They named this photograph 'Fall of Icarus
