The question of copyright ownership for generative AI content is legally and ethically complex. Current copyright laws often do not account for AI as a creator, resulting in ambiguity. Ownership could lie with the AI developers, the users prompting content creation, or be considered public domain. Resolving this requires new legal frameworks that clearly define intellectual property rights in the context of AI-generated works. Policies must strike a balance between incentivizing human creativity and recognizing AI’s role. Additionally, transparency about AI’s involvement in creation should be mandated, supporting fair attribution and preventing infringement.
