It's much faster than the old USB-A HDD I had before, which was frustrating enough for me to spend the money to upgrade. Takes more like 5-10 minutes probably, but it's quiet enough I don't really notice when it's happening. That said, I am backing up daily-ish, so there's less data to move/write.
