"On the Brocken the witches are lining up, the oats have come up, the barley has not been harvested, there Urian, the prince of obscurantism, is showing off in the sky" - this is how the German classic Goethe described the peak, inspired by the legends of the Sabbath and the shadows of the fog that have shrouded the Brocken for centuries. The highest point in northern Germany (1141 m), located in the Harz National Park, is famous not only for its panoramas, but also for its reputation as a witches' den. According to legend, the first Sabbath took place here back in 1540, against the backdrop of the blazing fires of the Reformation.
