There comes a moment when you can’t unsee the system for what it is. For creators, artists, and builders, that moment is now. You’ve been giving away your work and focus. The platforms have been cashing in. They call it “engagement.” But it’s really a machine built to take what you create and sell it. The question is: will you be part of changing it? On Base + Farcaster, you own your identity, your work, and your audience. No permission. No gatekeepers. No reset button. The full manifest is just a click away. Please share your thoughts and, for sure, share it with that friend who is tired of being unseen, not monetizing, and unhappy with their current platform.

Really enjoyed reading. I recently went to a research symposium on platformization and the mechanisms you mention. Using emotional labor to present platform affordances to normalize free labor and monetize even negative reactions from users. This has been documented pretty well in the kpop fandom ecosystem. But one of the main reasons they continue to participate in the ecosystem is because their community uses main stream distribution platforms as the organization vehicle. Its hard to get off the bus when all your friends are riding
