No way to verify that a cast id is from a fid onchain is there currently?

Was thinking to make minting a cast as a 1/1 nft (i prefer this over the coin meta atm). 

Assuming only the castor should be able to mint, we can verify the mint txn came from a fid's address but no way to verify the cast id onchain

not sure what you mean. can you elaborate the end use case you're trying to build?
