@vgr if irony is open-minded and non-dualistic, and sincerity attempts to synthesize reality into the unambiguous, then I’d posit that these postures are both useful for different stages of an OODA loop. Irony for open-ended observation and orientation, sincerity when it’s time to decide and act. And therefore as default modes, useful to different types of people. Those seeking truth may prefer to default to irony while those wanting to get things done / execute against goals prefer sincerity. And our society vaporizes the latter more than the former. Just random off the cuff thoughts.
