Really enjoyed the book Hit Makers by Derek Thompson. A must read for anyone who creates anything.
Three insights that stuck with me:
• Hits aren’t accidents, they’re familiar enough to comfort, novel enough to intrigue. The sweet spot has a name: MAYA. (Most Advanced Yet Acceptable)
• Virality is mostly a myth. Most blockbusters run on institutional machinery, not organic spread.
• We don’t love novelty. We love the feeling of novelty, wrapped in something we already know.
If you make content, build products, or study culture, this book is the cheat code.
