I think ~everyone would benefit from reading and writing more. Not to memorize facts, but to gain perspective on how others think and frame their ideas and experiences. 

“Taste” discourse feels single-player, like we’re saying “if you’ve got the right eye, you’ll win.” In reality, you’ll only win if your message is heard by the right people in the way you intended. And that requires a level of perspective that you won’t gain by just figuring out what you like and don’t like. 

The medium is the message, and the message is what is heard.
