@jff According to CoinDesk, Ian McGinley, the enforcement director of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), announced that he will resign on January 17th. He joined the agency in February 2023 and led enforcement actions against companies such as Binance, KuCoin, FalconLabs, etc. In a statement announcing his resignation on January 17th, Ian McGinley stated that "making the CFTC the primary enforcement agency for digital asset enforcement" was listed as his top priority during his tenure. According to reports, Trump's transition team has set their sights on a long list of potential CFTC leaders, but has not acted as quickly as they did during their tenure at the top of the Securities and Exchange Commission. However, if progress is made in cryptocurrency legislation by 2025, the CFTC may replace the SEC as the dominant regulator of the US digital asset market. @tfiedse

A law enforcement agency in South Africa recently arrested a 35 year old man on suspicion of using cryptocurrency to finance terrorist activities. The investigation was launched in May 2018, when the Financial Intelligence Center (FIC) and investigative teams received information about suspicious transactions suspected of being related to terrorist financing. It is reported that on November 30, 2017, the suspect purchased $614 worth of Bitcoin through virtual asset service provider Luno and transferred the funds from the suspect's bank account to Luno's custodial account. Subsequently, these bitcoins were transferred to another wallet associated with an unnamed "independent" organization. South African law enforcement agencies have stated that preliminary investigations have shown that these funds were transferred to provide weapons, economic assistance, and other projects to "participants" in another country. @ftionbbb

On December 27th local time, it was learned that US President elect Trump has submitted a request to the US Supreme Court to suspend the enforcement of the TikTok forced sale order. Trump said he hopes the court will give him time to resolve this dispute through political means after he officially takes office on January 20th next year. On December 18th local time, the US Supreme Court announced another discussion on the bill to ban TikTok from operating in the United States. According to reports, the US Supreme Court will debate this case on January 10th, allowing the court to make a ruling on the issue before the law takes effect on January 19th. The bill requires TikTok's parent company to divest TikTok by ByteDance, otherwise TikTok will be prohibited from operating in the United States. ByteDance made it clear that TikTok business would not be sold. @ftor26
