#ZeroContract Feature Highlight #6: ○ Ability to add infinite types of artwork Ever wish you could pack various types of art into a single token? Do you want to let collectors buy multiple versions, multiple aspect ratios, multiple assets all in one package? Bundle together images, audio, video, code nicely all as one piece of art? Most standards only let you add a handful of files, or just one link, and rarely work with on-chain assets. That’s limiting for creators who want to offer more. Introducing extraUri as a new way for artists to attach unlimited types and numbers of files to one token. Think of it as giving your art its own portfolio that can hold and display different files, in any format you want, and you can add as many as you like! I will try not being too technical here, but there is a lot of technical limitations we are pushing thru now with this new mechanism I think should become a future Tezos standard.

Zero Contract Feature Highlight #5: ○ True Destroy of art versus Burn There is a large distinction here and I feel we need to change our language. The most common "burn" that people understand is sending a token to a burn address. This is used all the time. And it is the only way a collector has to get rid of a token. But in reality, this is just a token transfer to another wallet. This results in the artwork technically still in circulation just owned by a dead, unmanaged wallet. Destroy, in contrast, removes the token from circulation. The blockchain ledger takes it out of the entries. For provenance, we do keep the metadata information, but the token is now more a historical reference and nobody can ever own it again.

ZeroContract Feature Highlight #4: ○ Family relationship between collections The Parent/Child relationship has been in the ZeroContract from nearly the beginning, but it is still the least adopted feature. This is in part that on the ZeroView I built displays this information. No marketplace or wallet has adopted this, so even if used, there is only one place to view it. That said, to me this is incredibly useful, and I feel will grow in adoption over time. For any collection, the artist is able to create soft links with other collections. Creating a hierarchy between collections, no matter when they are created. I think I am the only person who has used this, but you can see the example below:

ZeroContract Feature Highlight #3: ○ Add Collaborating Artists directly on-chain The Collaborators mechanism has been part of the ZeroContract for a few versions now. But for those that don't know, here is a primer. The original artist has the option of adding as many collaborators as desired. These collaborators have all the same ability as the original artist in order to Mint, Append or Destroy the tokens they create. Collaborators cannot affect any token created by another. This is also true for the original artists. Collaborators are the sole owner and administrator of their tokens. This has been used already for some fun collections. Check the comments below for some links to great artwork.

#ZeroContract Feature Highlight #2: ○ Freedom to edit Token Metadata There is nothing revolutionary about editing token metadata. People have been doing it for a long time. It was not part of the Tezos on-chain artwork contracts however and plenty of artists have wasted a lot of ꜩ burning and reminting artwork. Example in the comments to show that we can edit all the token metadata information including the artwork, tags, attributes, royalties, etc. If you forget something, or need to change something, it takes only a few seconds to fix it. No more burning. No more frustrations. Big caveat here is in order to protect our precious collectors, token metadata can only be edited while you own all of the editions. Once another address ones even one edition, this feature is locked.

#ZeroContract Highlight Feature #1: ○ Freedom to edit Contract Metadata After deploying a contract, the collection information (contract metadata) can be edited as many times as needed as long as you have no tokens in circulation. As in the example I provide in the comments, I didn't like my initial description and logo so decided to change it. I had not minted any tokens yet so this feature was unlocked. But what if I want to change the information AFTER I mint a token? Initially, this feature will be locked out. We do not want artists changing collection information after people are buying artwork. However, the artwork simply needs to not be in circulation. So if you mint, but never sell, you can use the Destroy feature (to be discussed later) to remove the artwork from circulation. The contract metadata editing feature will then be unlocked again.

Have you ever minted some on-chain artwork and then noticed a mistake? Did you burn it? What if I told you we no longer have to destroy our Tezos art mistakes? That we will soon be able to simply replace the artwork with a correction. Are you interested? The next upgrade to the ZeroContract has this built right in. This is only available while the minter owns all of the editions, but as such lets us fix things before selling. With no destruction involved. Are you not entertained?

Is anybody interested in the possibility to include infinite assets attached to their on-chain artwork? I know I am. A little understood, overlooked and by many unknown, metadata element of @tezos NFT are the formats[] and assets[] arrays. These are really powerful and let artists provide access to various formats of the artwork. Think different file types (music to accompany the artwork) or aspect ratios (9:16 version of the 16:9 artwork), etc. With IPFS these work brilliantly. However, a major complication with on-chain art is that these are inaccessible to us. Since they are libraries (an array nested in the metadata key), everything that goes into them must fit within one transaction block which is only 32kb. Instead, we need something different. So, I built something different. And powerful. And infinitely extensible for on-chain artists – extraUri. Interested? The last collection thoughts before we announce the winners: Condition: 0 - Human Condition: A really delightful execution of the theme across a collaborative effort. The well-known story of every individual starting from nothing, progressing through life, in order to return back to nothing. Using the broad theme with each artist expressing a different stage of humanity, there is both a cohesiveness and uniqueness shared between each artwork. Stepping through the collection I am able to see how the artists viewed each decade of life, from zero to zero in each stage and from beginning to end. 0RIGIN: An interpretation on one of the oldest artistic themes – the human transition from nothing into something. Referencing old themes and old art, this collection expresses that humanity does not have a singular beginning. As society changes, our zero point restarts. From nothing to something. Until that something becomes the next nothing and we step into the next something of existence. All the more prescient as we are quickly approaching our next zero point. Any nonzero number to the power of 0 equals 1: Mathematically accurate and artistically significant. Thick with conceptualism, engagement of the theme is clearly visible yet this collection imposes the need for individual inference. The heady narrative across the collection directed my thoughts through a spectrum from vehemence to torment to mundane and around again. Even within singular artwork, I found myself questioning interpretation not knowing if I am being too aloof or too pretentious. Ultimately, perhaps no matter the state of my fluid observation, the end results will always be the same. b.l.o.c.k.s_o.n-c.h.a.i.n. : The continuity in this collection, from artist to artist, puts on display an impactful avenue for collaborative execution. A comprehensive aesthetic that each artist utilizes emphasizes deference of individualist style for the goal or unified impression. There is clearly a singular director, but also a very engaged and willful orchestra. Each individual piece is deeply personal to the artist as they share a commemoration for an important, and often forgotten or unknown, individual that shaped the society of the artist’s perception. Aesthetically pleasing and easily digestible, the collection brings a disarming joy to a topic that is clearly visceral and emotional.
