Totally agree with this, and I’d add that it also makes it so much easier for people to build and monetize digital products. Payments and auth as first class citizens are so incredibly powerful, it’s only a matter of time until web2 devs realize this.

Truthfully it isn’t yet. It is a proper L2 built on the OP stack, but a better descriptor would be decentraliz*ing*.

in what ways is based decentralized - genuinely curious because there might be gaps in my knowledge with how it works
