Have had occasion to observe nautical types congregating in noisy throngs like that. Wonder if being out on vast waters makes them crave tight crowded spaces to recover.

fwiw I’ve been in woods mode a lot over the last decade or two…. my own rule wrt going crazy is something like: 2-3 days without going anywhere perfect… more than that watch out… flip side about the same: after 2-3 days of going out every day (into town, whatever), a couple days at home without going anywhere feels luxurious. DYOR lol

Have watched enough of 100 Foot Wave to get the gist so appreciated this short review to confirm am ok not watching the rest. Much as I love the waves, no longer find maniacal focus interesting. “Big wave surfing is perilous in every way, from the physical danger the athletes accept to the financial precarity they endure.
