from what i understand the initial program deployment cost (~1.5 SOL) is standard for anything that stores even a tiny bit of data, the thing i didn’t account for was the tx fees that i had to eat for anonymity’s sake, every new “PDA creation” (i barely know what that means) cost me 38c

do you have a sense of why the Solana fees were so high? that seems crazy. is that always the case?

i went into it expecting to spend $5, learned i had to spend $150, said ok fine, ended up spending $800

i run a snapchain node but i don’t have an etl setup to get structured data // i use neynar for “what are the most recent 300 posts by this user?” etc, i use my node for “who is ___’s top 5 friends?” or etc, analysis type shit

Genuine question, if you run a Snapchain node what neynar services do you pay for?

AWS has 8 servers (most APIs for mini apps one for snapchain)
Cloudflare has 10 serverless APIs
Vercel hosts the front ends

i dabble with ai using open identity data from crypto https://alexpaden.tech

the thing is i’m not running a company or trying to start one and i don’t see myself doing this long term so it doesn’t really make sense to do permanent purchases

I bought a Mac Studio + Neynar parquet to supplement running snapchain/postgres on hubs which was about $10k capex + $5k opex for about 1.5 years of parquet if helpful. Also running small models on the studio pretty often.

Can’t really ask for funds till the data feels valuable though
