Another benefit of being home, I had the opportunity to make the rounds with one of our local @HIMarineAnimal volunteers and observe 21 of our Laysan albatross chicks, including this one sitting out in an open field. Their plumage is starting to shift to the adult feathers, and they should begin fledging in a few weeks.

It’s #MonkSealMonday! Hawaiian monk seals frequently rest right along the water's edge to help them regulate their body temperatures. While photographing Sadie for the first time, I snapped this wave cooling her off.

That’s the plan. Already have been two episodes since I have been back (20 & 21, since this series started back in December), but both were over quickly, which makes getting the timing right a challenge.

Definitely fun to be back home in Hawaii. I made a stop at Laniakea Beach (aka Turtle Beach) and took a portrait of Wooley Bully, who is over 50 years old. That’s right… this Honu is older than me!
