What a super rare experience... back to my hotel for our last night on the Big Island, but this was definitely worth the trip. I will never get tired of watching the eruptions of Kilauea!
I am almost completely self taught, with some great mentors along the way. My mother gave me my first camera, a hand me down Minolta 110 film camera, when I was 5 or 6. I used to take photos of the frogs and toads and turtles (and my thumb over the lens) in my back yard, growing up in New Hampshire. I still shoot a lot of wildlife today, but the turtles in my backyard in Hawaii are a little bigger.
Getting on the road to Kauai’s north shore to chase waves today… 30’-40’ today, 40’-50’ tomorrow. They are running The Eddie tomorrow so that’s exciting, but I cannot wait to see what those monsters look like from my favorite spot to chase waves!
Happy Monk Seal Monday... here's a close up of Kolohe snoozing on the beach (taken with a 200-500mm lens, from long distance to not disturb his rest). Can you count his whiskers?
