"The person who thinks they can and the person who thinks they can't are both right" It doesn't matter if that belief in themselves comes from family, religion, or insanity. If your friend thinks they can succeed because they found a pink crystal in a sea of black pebbles, let them have it. It doesn't matter if you don't believe in the source of their spark; what matters is that they have a spark and are inspired to do something bigger than themselves and improve their life. You aren't an intellectual hero when you try to steal that spark from them by convincing them religion isn't real or that their beliefs are, in your arrogant opinion, "foolish," you are an asshole. If your need to be right is more important than your desire to see those around you succeed, you are never going to find the success you crave.
