Geopolitical tensions often boost Bitcoin more than altcoins because Bitcoin is seen as a global hedge asset. In crises, investors may seek non-sovereign value storage, increasing demand for BTC. Altcoins, by contrast, lack the same perception of safety and may suffer as risk appetite declines. Sanctions, capital controls, and regional instability also highlight Bitcoin’s utility for cross-border transfers, strengthening its safe-haven narrative. However, extreme uncertainty can still create overall market sell-offs. Thus, while Bitcoin may benefit as a hedge, altcoins usually lag, reflecting their dependence on speculative capital and weaker narratives during global instability.
