Although tokenless, governance-free, zero-fee permanent applications sound ideal, they come with significant practical limitations. The absence of a token can weaken incentives for participants and leave the long-term funding of network security uncertain. A lack of governance reduces flexibility, making it difficult to update the system in response to security vulnerabilities, new requirements, or evolving user expectations. Zero fees can also open the door to spam, abuse, and excessive consumption of network resources. Therefore, while this approach appears simple and appealing in theory, it carries meaningful risks in terms of scalability and sustainability in practice.
