had the strangest thing happen recently. i was sitting in a small town DMV and there were ~20 ppl in the waiting room. not a single person was on their phone. no headphones. no doom scrolling. just patiently staring ahead into the void, waiting for their numbers to be called. it was simultaneously eerie and refreshing. also says a lot about the dichotomy between small towns and bigger cities.
