should i get a dog? things to know: - i like dogs. not as much as some ppl LOVE dogs. - i travel a lot. like, a lot lot. - i haven’t had a dog since childhood. a lot of my dogs were run over or stolen or died in my arms, which was pretty traumatizing. i kinda want a dog but i prob shouldn’t get one right?

spontaneous travel becomes really difficult with a dog. I love mine but it’s definitely a bigger life adjustment than I anticipated

Unless you plan to take doggo on travels I’d say probably not. Get cat.

Yes, with the caveat: Be prepared to pony up a pretty penny for frequent Rover dog sitters if you travel a lot. Don't do kennels because that can be stressful for the pup and also risk disease. If you have someone you trust who can dog sit while traveling that's great. But in our case we have to rely on Rover, it can get pricey but it's doable.

1. I’m your dog. 2. Maybe sign up for Rover and do some dog sitting/walking to see how you feel about it! You can also volunteer with your local shelters, but that puts you dangerously close to very cute, very adoptable dogs.

nah, don’t get a dog. it’ll be rough with the amount of travel you do! foster a dog instead? or become the go-to dog sitter for all the dogs you like in your life!

Having a dog gonna really make traveling a pain in the ass. Get a cat with an automatic feeder and water fountain

If you travel a lot, I would advise against it unless you have someone reliable and trustworthy in your life that will help you out while you’re gone. Next best thing — get a tiny breed you can bring with you everywhere.

Man, such a devastating thing. We just had to put our pup down after a long fight with a sinus tumor… ‘Abbie The Super Schnauzer’ … almost made it to 14 years. We decided not to, as to do even just a nominal amount of travel was tough and the walks at all hours and … food today is stupid expensive, which is a complete racket. All said, if I was on a farm and room to roam, sure. Dog in a city… woof. 75 lb+ = human size poo…! Just sharing… we miss her, but can’t repeat at this time… you make the call…

I wouldn’t trade Izzy for anything in the world, also I have to think of her before I do anything. She’s a good motivator because she needs an enormous amount of exercise so I have to go out with her in the yard and kick the ball around or take her for a walk, she’s smart too, so I play hide and go seek with her and we do tricks of course. So she’s a bunch of my day. Of course, not all dogs are like this. I used to have a Shih Tzu and they needed a lot less exercise. Or at least a lot less space to exercise. I’ve almost always had dogs, they bring something to my life you can’t get anywhere else. That unconditional love and loyalty can’t be bought. That’s really a tough decision - I’m a person who LOVES dogs!!

A dog is a multi decade commitment requiring several hours of attention every day. It doesn't sound like that would align with your lifestyle.

I would so love for you to have a dog and for Bao to have a bestie 🥰 you do have a very busy life, so some adjustments would need to made. With that being said, you’d be such a good fur mama and I will be the best fur Aunty when you travel or need a hand.
