the US healthcare system is so broken i have a friend who is actually crowdsourcing her medical care through a subscription-based membership plan.
how it works: every month she pays a subscription fee in addition to helping pay for other members' medical bills up to a pre-determined capped amount. if she faces a "health event," she uploads her expenses and submits them for crowdfund by the other members.
surely the normalization of crowdfunding basic medical care can't be seen as anything other than complete systemic failure and a genuine national embarassment.
but hey ... at least there's a bitcoin component 🤷♀️
