the only way to cook bacon is by pressing a thick layer of course black pepper into the strips & cooking until crispy (in the oven)

Basil, I have to disagree here. Bacon has to be cooked on the bonnet of a ford capri in a Tesco's carpark at 4am while your wife's sister gives birth to your third child in the back seat.
