Anoma and Namada are closely linked but serve distinct yet complementary roles in the Web3 space. Anoma is a distributed operating system designed for intent centric applications, aiming to unify blockchains and simplify user experiences by focusing on desired outcomes rather than technical details. Namada, on the other hand, is a proof of stake Layer 1 blockchain built by Heliax, the same team behind Anoma, and acts as its first "fractal instance" a practical implementation of a subset of Anoma’s vision.
Namada focuses on privacy and interoperability, using zero knowledge cryptography and its Multi Asset Shielded Pool (MASP) to enable private, asset-agnostic transfers across multiple chains, including Ethereum and Cosmos via IBC. It serves as a shielded bridge and identity layer for Anoma, laying the groundwork for the broader ecosystem by providing data protection and cross-chain functionality. While Anoma handles the higher-level coordination and intent processing, Namada handles the foundational privacy and transaction infrastructure.
The two are designed to work together, with Namada’s advancements (like shielded actions and Namadillo UI) supporting Anoma’s intent-centric apps. Think of Namada as the privacy powerhouse that powers Anoma’s ambitious, user-friendly future distinct but deeply intertwined!
