Theseus was the son of King Aegeus of Athens. He was sent to Crete to kill the Minotaur, who was in the service of King Minos. Half human and half bull, the Minotaur lived in a specially constructed maze in the dungeons of Minos' palace. He was notorious for eating children, which was demanded by Minos.
