🇺🇸 US Senate to Vote on Reopening the Government — While Crypto Regulation Remains on Hold
The US government shutdown has now dragged into its 38th day, and the Senate is preparing to vote on a funding bill to temporarily restore operations. However, the political gridlock has effectively stalled progress on the long-awaited crypto regulatory framework.
The Digital Asset Market Structure bill — known as the CLARITY Act in the House and the Responsible Financial Innovation Act in the Senate — was expected to outline a comprehensive set of crypto rules. But with the shutdown dominating Washington’s agenda, the bill remains stuck in limbo.
Senator Cynthia Lummis, one of the bill’s leading supporters, initially planned to push it through the Banking and Agriculture Committees by fall. Yet, with political tensions high and the holidays approaching, that timeline looks increasingly unrealistic.
