Monolithic vs modular—it’s the classic debate. Ethereum is shifting toward modularity with rollups doing execution, while the base layer handles security and data. Celestia goes full modular from the jump, offering only data availability and consensus, leaving execution to anyone. That makes it super flexible and scalable, but also fragmented. Ethereum's rollup-centric roadmap offers tighter integration and stronger network effects. Celestia’s cleaner separation might win on pure scalability, but Ethereum’s massive dev base and evolving L2 stack keep it ahead—for now.
