It’s important to be aware of why a person decides to stop drinking.
I partied too hard in college. I’d say I wasted some important years, but learned that I have too addictive of a personality, as well as how addicting alcohol can be, to realize that I need to go a different route in social situations than drinking.
The aforementioned alternatives all carry pretty large chances of addiction. But maybe not necessarily the connections to cancer than alcohol.
It’s a good time to just consider when you quit, if you quit, what you’re substituting with, and whether that can harm you as well.
I suppose more people are finding it socially acceptable (I’d be intrigued to see if this is true at the university I went to… a pretty heavy party school) to not drink.
Who knows.
