JPMorgan and Coinbase are quietly testing tokenized deposit experiments on the Base network which would let traditional deposits be represented as onchain tokens that apps can use for payments and settlement.
If this pilot scales it could bring regulated institutional liquidity into Base while raising real questions about custody compliance and how banks and blockchains share responsibility for user funds.
