The first NFTs, as we know them today, appeared in 2017, with the advent of the CryptoPunks platform created by Larva Labs.
However, some believe that the concept of NFT has existed before. For example, the "Rare Pepes" project, launched in 2016, used the concept of unique digital assets that could be collected and traded, although not based on blockchain.
