A pet peeve I have is when characters use language out of place in a book's setting. Reading Simon Scarrow's 'Under the Eagles', a historical fiction set in Imperial Rome, and a character unironically referred to 'CV' in the modern context. Nitpicking, but it's completely taken me out of the story. 😩
