@ibraheem
I associate BASE with BASE jumping.
Beyond associations like Coinbase & Bay Area culture.
I think of BASE jumping.
BASE is an acronym for the four main fixed-object jump categories:
**B**uildings (tall structures)
**A**ntennas (radio/TV towers)
**S**pans (bridges)
**E**arth (cliffs/natural formations)
In contrast to skydiving, BASE jumping involves lower altitudes so jumpers risk colliding with the object while navigating difficult landing zones.
I’ve not a Base jumper.
But in a past life, I loved to climb high things.
I scaled bridges, mountains, tall buildings, and even a pyramid once.
And when you scale tall things you tend to run into BASE jumpers.
I always admired them.
The bravado. The risk-taking.
The technical skill and preparation.
And I now draw parallels between the risks of BASE jumping and building in a new frontier.
We may look a lil crazy to people who don’t know we can really pull this off.
But to build here & now is a leap of faith.
And fortune rewards the brave.
Stay based.
