I’m on a wild chase in Front Royal, Virginia, hunting for a bronze dog head - possibly one of the lost Old Summer Palace zodiac statues looted in 1860, with only seven recovered so far. The town’s Chinese community is fading, and I found a former Chinese restaurant now Mexican - crazy how demographics shift, with a 24% drop in small-town immigrants since 2010.
