One of the lesser-known founders who has not received much attention is Gary Kildall. He was the developer of the CP/M operating system and a pioneer in the software industry.
Although Bill Gates and Microsoft became famous with MS-DOS, before that, Kildall's CP/M was widely used in early personal computers. It is said that IBM initially sought to collaborate with Kildall to use CP/M in its personal computers, but for some reason, the deal did not go through. As a result, Microsoft seized the opportunity to replace it with MS-DOS.
Kildall was later pushed out of the competition, and his story faded into the shadows of Microsoft's success. However, his impact on the computer industry remains undeniable.
