There is an immediacy and velocity to exchange in the "social economy" that is new and different from other crypto interactions. Tips come in, tips go back out. I earned a @paperview reward last week and spent it on other people's content. This kind of exchange is one-to-one, personal, and often repeated. There was some of this in the "DAO economy" era but it was many-to-one, slow, and often captured. There is little of this in the rest of crypto: swapping and speculating are impersonal and often antisocial.

With enough economic activity this probably makes a pretty good reputation score. Does a given user participate in the network or just extract? (Reminds me of seed/leech ratios on torrent trackers) Sounds stupid and obvious, but the interesting thing about crypto social is that it is *social* and not impersonal.

strong agree with this I personally am craving a tool that helps me understand all my social economic inflows and outflows. I am now doing so many transactions across @noiceapp @zora tips etc that it's inpossible to track. my gut tells me that I'm net positive (even with a ton of outflows!) but I want to know. and I want analytics on all of it.

I like the gifting, tipn, and variety of moneys here. I feel like a lot of this activity is *about* making good relationships with others here too. It may not last forever but there is a very gracious vibe here and I dig that

I am turbogrump on social economy. Mixing money and friends. Explicit quantification of relationships has many ill effects. I scratched your back, why didn't you scratch mine? Or even more insidious, feeling pressured into participating. There's admittedly many counterpoints to this. Maybe social media connections are acquaintances, not friends. Maybe the transactional nature is already there with likes/follows/retweets. I'm grateful to Farcaster for getting to watch the experiment, regardless. It is interesting regardless of one's personal beliefs.

Yes, bullish on many-to-many interactions, i.e. community social in truest sense of the term (not promotional tips or token trading) i tried to capture the essence of this here: vinaydebrou.xyz/tipsy

There is something special about tipping but I wonder it’s a newness factor vs immediacy/velocity. tipping Tuesday feels like it has lost some steam as it bakes in as an expectation. I’m still rolling most of the rewards into tipping services but barely think about now. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Is paperview encrypting the initial post? I like the new group gating feature and wonder what the optimal size of the gated groups will be or if this evolves to the new clickbait at scale
