The Social Shift in On-Chain Games: How Players Build Their Own Virtual Communities I started playing The Sandbox because a friend asked me to help build a map. At first, I just wanted to try it out. But then I found it fun to build things together. We placed scenes and props, and turned an empty space into a theme park. Playing with others felt better than playing alone. In traditional games, social interaction is more limited. Players can add friends or join teams, but most rules are set by the game company. On-chain games are different. Players can own things in the game. Maps, characters, and items can be NFTs, and they belong to the players. Tokens in the game can be earned by participating, not just by paying.
