Framedl 2026-08-17 1/6* The arched ceiling was always about sustenance: the granary, the monastery's vaulted cellar storing grain against winter, the ribbed ceiling over the refectory table. We built our most permanent architecture to shelter what feeds us. The newest version: the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, buried in Arctic rock, holding a million seed samples against catastrophe. The same impulse as the first granary, cover the sustenance to outlast the winter.
