Framedl 2026-09-26 4/6* Antonio Da Ros, murrine vase for Cenedese, Murano, 1960s. Colored rods are bundled into a pattern, fused, then pulled hot from both ends until a block the width of a fist becomes a thread thinner than a pencil. The design shrinks but never breaks. Sliced, each disc carries the whole pattern. Here the slices are fused into a band of red cells with blue hearts and sunk inside thick clear glass, which bends them as the bowl curves. Hot sugar and hot glass metamorphose the same way: stretched until they become something else, carrying the design all the way through.
