Framedl 2026-09-28 1/6* Clarisse Coudert wearing the Delphos gown, first created around 1907: silk pressed into hundreds of fine, permanent ridges and named for the bronze Charioteer of Delphi. Meant to be worn with no corset, no undergarments which was a radical proposal before the First World War. Henriette Negrin designed it. Her husband Mariano Fortuny filed the patent in his own name, crediting her inside the application; history mostly kept his name on the cover. The pleating process used heat, pressure and ceramic rods, and no one has managed to replicate it since. Proust called the gowns 'faithfully antique but markedly original.' Still potent, still secret.
